Another way The SPF is supporting the local community is through it’s new Video Blog called “The Dish”.
Filmed at a local restaurant, we feature a nonprofit that’s making a difference in the surrounding community. Through the Internet, we’re able to share some of the truly amazing ways these organizations are giving back, and how people can get involved – often in much easier ways that most would imagine.

Spirit Filled Wings – Part 2
Spirit Filled Wings is a non profit raptor rehabilitation center where orphaned and/or injured raptors receive medical care, food, housing and conditioning, with the goal of releasing the raptor back into the wild.
Linda Bianco is a federally licensed raptor rehabilitator, and founded Spirit Filled Wings to help with the cost of medical supplies, veterinary care, and food for the raptors in her care.

Last Day Dog Rescue
Last Day Dog Rescue focuses on rescuing dogs from the “Urgent” list in Shelters and pounds across lower Michigan and Parts of Ohio with an emphasis on those shelters who euthanize by gas or those shelters who sell the dogs in their care to research labs where they are used for barbaric and most times painful testing and experiments.
We hold a special place in our hearts for the big and black dogs, even ‘ugly’ dogs (who we don’t find ugly at all!) and the special senior dogs.
These dogs most often get overlooked and passed up in shelters and pounds everywhere for puppies, small breeds, and the “prettier”, lighter colored dogs

Leader Dogs for the Blind
Founded by three Detroit area Lions Clubs members in 1939, Leader Dogs for the Blind provides dog guides to people who are blind and visually impaired to enhance their mobility, independence and quality of life. Each year, over 270 students attend our 26-day residential training program to be paired with a dog guide. This is a life-changing event that opens the doors to independence, safety and self-worth for many of our students

The Pink Fund
The Pink Fund has been formed to help women and men suffering from breast cancer focus on healing, raising their families and returning to the workplace. The Pink Fund will provide short-term financial aid during the brief period of active treatment and recovery. Millions of dollars are being raised for research and programs for the medically underserved, but despite this there are many families facing breast cancer who urgently need financial help now. The Pink Fund provides this help

Paint a Miracle
Paint a Miracle Art Studio opened its doors in 2002 and now maintains an art studio and gallery in downtown Rochester. At Paint a Miracle, artists work in a variety of mediums, including painting and drawing, ceramics and fiber arts. Their work is exhibited and sold in the Paint a Miracle gallery and throughout the community. Paint a Miracle is a place of independence, artistic freedom and inspiration – a place where one can enjoy the creative process amongst friends.
